Portside is a search index and logistics marketplace for Japanese-domestic-market (JDM) car parts. We index listings published on third-party marketplaces, translate and enrich them for search, and connect buyers with independent import businesses ("Importers") who list container schedules and respond to quote requests.
Portside is not a store. We do not sell parts, hold inventory, process purchase payments for listings, or act as agent for any seller. Every listing links to its original source, and the purchase happens there under that marketplace's terms.
You need an account for the watchlist, the garage, bookings, and importer tools. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for activity on your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (scraping our index, automated bulk requests outside the documented API, interfering with other users, or unlawful use).
Listing content originates from third-party sellers on third-party marketplaces. We surface it with translations, chassis tags, condition grades, price context, and fitment assessments that are generated by software, including AI models.
These enrichments are estimates provided for convenience — not representations about any item. Condition grades are read from seller photos; fitment answers are inference, not a compatibility guarantee; price signals are statistics over our index, not appraisals. Verify everything against the original listing (and with the seller or your community) before spending money. Currency conversions are approximate and the source price in its original currency controls.
Watchlist alerts email you when new listings match your saved criteria — instantly on paid plans, batched daily on the free plan. Alerts depend on sources we don't control; we don't promise every matching listing will be found, or found in time to buy it.
Importers on Portside are independent businesses, not Portside. A booking on Portside tracks your shipment's status; the shipping contract is between you and the Importer. We don't guarantee container dates, freight pricing, customs outcomes, or the performance of any Importer — including "verified" Importers, where verification means we checked business details, not that we underwrite their work. Importing is subject to your country's laws; you are responsible for ensuring a part is legal to import and use where you live.
Paid tiers (Pro, Shop, Importer Pro) are billed monthly or annually as you choose, and described on the pricing page. Where a plan offers a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel first. You can cancel any time and keep access through the period you paid for. Until payment processing is live, plan orders are reserved against your account and no card is charged.
Don't: scrape or bulk-export the index outside the documented API; probe or disrupt the service; misrepresent an importer business; submit listings you have no right to post; or use Portside to violate any marketplace's terms or any law. API access on the Shop tier comes with per-key rate limits; keys are yours to protect and revoke.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement) and are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including missed listings, lost auctions, part incompatibility, import costs or seizures, or dealings with sellers and Importers. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $100 or what you paid Portside in the twelve months before the claim.
We can modify or discontinue features, and update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site or by email, and continuing to use Portside after they take effect is acceptance. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.
Questions about these terms: legal@portside.direct. See also the Privacy Policy.
When you accept a quote, Portside holds the money rather than passing it to the Importer. For each auction item we place an authorisation on your card for the maximum bid you set; winning captures the amount actually bid and releases the rest, and losing releases the whole authorisation. Nothing is captured for a part you did not get. Everything the authorisations don't cover, meaning freight, duties and the Importer's own charge, is taken once when the booking moves to payment held. The Importer is paid in stages as the shipment reaches milestones we can corroborate, not up front.
A buyer protection fee is added to the quoted total and charged alongside that payment. The rate and its cap are stated on the pricing page and shown on your booking before you accept a quote. It covers the holds, the release of a lost auction, refunds, and mediation if something goes wrong. Fees the Importer pays Portside come out of the Importer's side and are not added to what you pay.
If a booking is cancelled or refunded before any payment has been released to the Importer, that payment is returned to your card. Once money has been released against a milestone, a refund is worked out case by case between you, the Importer and Portside.
